Location Typography

November 19, 2008

Carrying over a topic from my previous post … the new Bond film’s location slides were found thanks to a flickr conversation moderated by Matt Hamm, who also created a new set with the images from a UK firm, Tomato. Here are few of my favorites, but check out the set on Tomato’s site or the set on flickr – they are all so good !

  1. Kristin, have you seen the show Fringe? What do you think of its location typography? I think it always uses the same font, but its variety is in its 3D positioning in relation to the objects in the establishing shot. I wonder if a trend is starting where directors will give increasing attention to establishing location with creative typography?

  2. I’ve seen the pilot episode of Fringe, and remember the angled type which seemed to match the show’s mysterious feel. I hope you’re right that directors are increasing attention to type – it really can help set a mood!
